The historical Taş Konak, which carries the traces of the Roman, Seljuk and Ottoman eras in the historical Kaleici district of Antalya, sheds light to history from hundreds of years ago with the objects exhibited in it. Everything from hand-made rugs to old-fashioned war tools takes visitors on a historical tour in the cultural center created by archaeologist-art historian Hakan Tazecan.
Hakan Tazecan, an archaeologist and art historian based in Antalya, presents objects of different years to the enthusiasts in the cultural center opened in the Taş Konak with the traces of 2,000 years old Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman in Kaleiçi.
More than 50 thousand items from hand made rugs to old war tools take visitors on a historical trip. Tazecan explained that he brought together antique works that were processed by knitting with traditional handicrafts over the years and gave information about his works. Explaining that there are many objects belonging to Turkish culture and exhibited in the cultural center, Tazecan said:
"These objects are the most special pieces in their class. They can be said to be the best of copper, tile, wood, textile articles. There are dowry chests that have been challenged for more than a thousand years. There are important cultural assets of the region, which were procured from the Taurus and Mediterranean regions. Among the textile objects produced in Egypt 2 thousand years ago, there are textile objects used by the yoruk women who have challenged the years. We sell those who do not have cultural values. While selling them, we enable foreigners to learn the Turkish history and the stories of the items there. "
Aiming to open a yoruk culture museum, where clothing objects reflecting the yoruk culture are displayed in the coming years, Tazecan accumulates objects with high cultural value for its museum.
